You cannot put scaffolding around a roof this size

The west stand of the Pancretan Stadium is covered by a canopy carried on a steel space frame, thirty-five metres above the ground. Restoring it is not a roofing job. It is six thousand square metres of surface, plus the frame beneath, in a position where every tool and every fixing has to be carried up and brought back down again.

So the work is done by a crew trained to work in the air — the only sensible answer at that height and that area. And it is done above a stadium that stays open: the Pancretan continues to operate for the whole of the programme, which sets the rhythm of every lift and every delivery.

The space frame

A space frame is a single structural object: thousands of members triangulated so that load finds its own way to the supports. Restoring one means treating it as a whole, not as a list of parts — every node checked, every member accounted for.

Six thousand square metres, at height

The canopy surface is the size of a small stadium in its own right, and all of it sits thirty-five metres up. There is no scaffold that makes that cheap; the work is done by a crew trained and equipped to work in the air.

Around a stadium in use

The Pancretan is not a disused ground — it stays operational throughout. Every lift, every delivery and every working shift is planned around events continuing beneath.
